The 2025 National Schoolchildren’s Sports Contest has opened with due ceremony.
The contest will bring together more than 8 000 members of sports groupsof schools who won the provincial preliminaries through city and county events.They will compete in more than 10 events including Taekwon-Do, basketball andspeed skating.
Present at the opening ceremony held at the Samjiyon City Hall of Cultureon January 20 were Kang Sin Chang, secretary of the RyanggangProvincial Committee of the Workers’ Party of Korea, officials of the youthleague, teachers and students.
Pae Chung Il, vice-chairman of the Central Committee of the SocialistPatriotic Youth League, made an opening address.
He said that the national schoolchildren’s sports contest which is held every year serves as an occasion for fullydemonstrating the sports techniques gained in the course of brisk activities ofschool sports groups true to the noble intention of the respected fatherly Marshal Kim Jong Un.
He noted that Kim Jong Un paiddeep attention to physical education at schools, though he was so busy with thenational affairs, and saw that modern mass sports facilities were builtsplendidly in different parts of the country, showing great loving care for theschoolchildren so that they could bring their talents into full bloom.
Saying that allthe players should display high sports techniques, the spirit ofcollectivism and noble moral traits to the full in every game andthus show the dependable features of the Korean schoolchildren growing upvigorously under the care of the Party, he declared the contest open.
