The Fishery Modernization Institute under the Academy of Fisheries has achieved new successes in research projects.
It has developed Hwanggumhae , a fishing-ground search support program essential in surveying and protecting aquatic resources and putting seafood production on a scientific basis. The program assesses and predicts the aquatic resources according to species, zones, regional distribution and their changes so that the fishery sector can gain maximum profits.
It has newly developed an agar separation technology, the core in the agar production process, and succeeded in separating from the seaweed extract agar whose quality indexes reach GMP levels.
Besides, it has also developed a fishing-instrument design support system and manufactured a winding machine for seaweed seedlings as part of the efforts to realize domestic production and automation of tools and machines needed for fish farm and aquaculture.
Such achievements have been highly appreciated at annual national sci-tech festivals and national presentations of sci-tech achievements in the fishery sector.
