Modern Flats Built in Pyongyang
At its Eighth Congress in January 2021, the Workers’ Party of Korea decided on building 50 000 flats in the capital city of Pyongyang during the period of the five-year plan for national economic development. Accordingly, every year has unfailingly seen the construction of 10 000 modern flats in the city.
In addition, many other flats have been built in the Pothong Riverside Terraced Houses District, Taephyong area and Jonwi Street. At present the 50 000-flat project is pushed forward at the final stage with the ongoing fourth-stage project for building 10 000 flats in the Hwasong area. Dwelling Houses Built across Country
Dwelling Houses in Other Parts of Country
For the past three years as many as 80 700 houses of different styles have been built in rural areas of the country.
Besides, more than 20 000 houses have been built in the Komdok area, where the country’s leading non-ferrous mineral ore production base is situated, turning the area into a mountain-gorge town, the first of its kind in the DPRK. Well over 15 000 houses were built in a little more than four months in the northern border areas which were hit by floods last year, bringing great delight to the flood victims.
Large-scale Greenhouse Farms
Building large-scale greenhouse farms is one of the priority tasks of the WPK.
The undertaking got off to a good start in 2019 with the inauguration of the Jungphyong Greenhouse Farm in Kyongsong County, North Hamgyong Province. It was followed by the Ryonpho Greenhouse Farm in South Hamgyong Province in 2022 and the Kangdong Combined Greenhouse Farm in uptown Pyongyang in 2024, both farms more advanced in terms of scale and modernization level. Now another modern greenhouse farm covering literally 450 hectares is under construction in Hadan-ri and Soho-ri in the border city of Sinuiju.
Modern Regional-industry Factories
Since last year the work to build modern regional-industry factories in all cities and counties throughout the country has been in full swing according to the Regional Development 20×10 Policy. The first entities of the programme are foodstuff factories, daily necessities factories and other industrial establishments built in 20 cities and counties including Songchon, Jaeryong and Sukchon.
This year additional projects have been launched to build modern public health facilities, leisure complexes and grain storage stations.
