Many monumental edifices for schoolchildren have sprung up in the DPRK for over a decade.

One day in May 2013, the respected Comrade Kim Jong Un visited the Songdowon International Children’s Camp and took a measure to renovate it as required by the new century. The camp was renovated into a comprehensive extracurricular educational base equipped with all conditions necessary for the students to possess profound knowledge, noble moral traits and strong physique, including a theatre, indoor gym, outdoor playground, outdoor wading pool, aquarium and aviary.

Over 100 000 schoolchildren from home and abroad have spent pleasant camping days at the renovated camp since the first-term camping started there on May 10, 2014.

The Mangyongdae Schoolchildren’s Palace in Kwangbok Street, Pyongyang, has also been facelifted.

In May 2014 Kim Jong Un visited the palace to set forth the task of renovating it, taking all measures to this end. Later, when he visited the remodelled palace, he said that the Party had spared nothing for the children as their laughter of today would lead to cheers of victory.

Many schoolchildren visit the palace every day to conduct extracurricular activities.

An art troupe of the Mangyongdae Schoolchildren’s Palace toured the Maritime Territory of Russia from May 2 to 12. Russian figures lavished praise on the Korean children’s performance, saying: It is wonderful and it cannot be better. High artistry, well-knit ensemble and perfect and refined movements can be performed only by Korean children. Through the performance, we could feel what importance the DPRK attaches to education. We pay tribute to the respected Comrade Kim Jong Un who has trained such excellent children. So rosy is the future of the DPRK where the younger generation is valued and priority is given to education.

In addition, there are many other renovated extracurricular educational bases, such as the Yonphungho and Mangyongdae children’s camps, and the Samjiyon and Paeumui Chollikil schoolchildren’s palaces.

Pyongyang Middle School for Orphans was inaugurated on July 18, 2016, and Pyongyang Primary School for Orphans in February the following year, followed by similar schools throughout the country.

The Okryu Children’s Hospital is another monumental structure for children. It houses different treatment rooms and operating theatres furnished with latest equipment, sick wards, classrooms for children in sickbed, playing spaces and rest areas.

The bright and cheerful laughter of the schoolchildren resounds everywhere in the country thanks to the benevolence of Kim Jong Un who is beautifully cultivating the future of the country with warm love for the younger generation.
