Back on May 14, 2024, Pyongyang, the capital of the DPRK which is proud of its clear and fresh figures as well as its modern and grandiose features, celebrated the birth of Jonwi Street at its northern gate area, another massive cluster of buildings presenting a grandeur of various types of high-rise buildings, skyscrapers and welfare facilities including the 80-storeyed apartment building.

It is surprising that such a massive construction work, requiring complicated construction techniques and which can be regarded as a new level of Juche-oriented architecture and a model of capital construction, is finished within a short period of only a year Yet even more surprising is that such work has been done by none other than the young people, not by experienced construction units.

Respected Comrade Kim Jong Un , bearing in mind the noble intention of giving importance to the youths, is devoting his thoughts and efforts to raise our young people as a reliable force for the building of a powerful state. Comrade Kim Jong Un set forth the task of building a new street as a major construction task at the 6th plenary meeting of the 8th Central Committee of the Workers' Party of Korea and entrusted this task entirely to the young people.

Our young people, who translate the ideas and decisions of the leader into reality and live up to the leader’s trust and affection, responded to the Party’s call to form a large construction unit of more than a hundred thousand in no more than a few days following the mettle of their former generation who bravely volunteered to the war front to defend the fatherland in response to the call of President Kim Il Sung .

True to the trust and expectation of respected Comrade Kim Jong Un that our young people would complete the construction of the new street on a high level and become honorable victors, they managed to complete the construction work flawlessly, braving all the difficulties and hardships by dint of revolutionary and patriotic zeal and gaining first-hand knowledge and helping each other.

Jonwi Street was not built simply by cement or steel. The great loving care of respected Comrade Kim Jong Un , who attached great importance to the construction as a state issue and personally guided the workers step by step was the driving source of infinite power. The youth workers still talk of this with deep emotions.

The completion of Jonwi Street does not merely mean an increase in number of a few thousands of dwellings.

The great significance lies in the fact that a great number of our young people came to embody heroic, patriotic and devoting mettles peculiar to the Korean youths through practical struggles and they further trained themselves and grew as successors of revolution, reserves of our party and reliable workers of socialist construction.

Those young people, trained through the construction of Jonwi Street, are holding fast to the great trust of our party and refurbishing their home towns and villages with the same mechanism and fighting spirit as they had during the capital construction. They are also fully demonstrating their brave spirits and heroic feats of the youth force of the great Kim Jong Un era.

Our proud patriotic youths would transplant mountains and dry off the seas answering the call of the leader, the party and the fatherland and impregnably defend the defense lines of the country. They build self-esteem and prove their worth of life on this path. On the contrary, the youths in the capitalist world where money is omnipotent are intent on making their living. Not only do they follow the decadent path of crime for unjust wealth, but they also desert their barracks in mobs to hang onto their lives even though their country is faced with crisis. Such difference indeed provides a stark contrast.

It proves that the country with the host of patriotic youths brought up to be strong pillars of the society under the warm care of the great leader will only prosper and can withstand any perils and obstacles, whereas the country packed with individualism-stained youths sorely chasing after their personal comforts and pleasures - not matter how large its territory or how developed its economy is - will certainly fall into decline.
