Greater efforts are being made in different parts of the DPRK to plant forests true to the regional development policy of the Workers’ Party of Korea.
In order to normalize the production at modern regional-industry factories, already built or to be built, it is needed to ensure a sufficient supply to them of raw materials by building forests for oil and paper production.
Working people across the country have turned out for tree planting to this end.
South Phyongan Province set a clear tree-planting plan and oversaw its implementation with the result that over 1.6 million saplings such as pine nut tree, Evodia daniellii , Xanthoceras sorbifolia and bamboo-willow were planted in an area covering more than a thousand hectares.
Tree nurseries in cities and counties in North Phyongan Province worked hard to boost the production of many saplings of good species, while saplings of high economic value were added to over 2 500 hectares of forests for raw materials in South Hwanghae Province.
In South Hamgyong Province particular attention was given to the introduction of advanced planting methods that suit the specific regional conditions of the province and to raising the rate of rooting by satisfying the technological requirements in the whole processes including digging, humus soil covering and soil tamping.
Similar activities were conducted in other parts of the country.
