The Central Committee of the Workers' Party of Korea, the State Affairs Commission of the Democratic People's Republic of Korea, the Standing Committee of the Supreme People's Assembly of the DPRK and the Cabinet of the DPRK sent a joint congratulatory message to the leadership of the Russian Federation and the entire Russian people on the 9th.

The message said the leadership of the DPRK and the entire Korean people extend the heartiest congratulations to the leadership of the Russian Federation and all the Russian people on the occasion of the 80th anniversary of the fraternal Russia's victory in the Great Patriotic War, and continued.

We heartily pay respects to the generation of victors who devoted all their precious without stint to the sacred war for the destiny of the country and future of mankind and give a warm militant salute to the officers and men of the Russian armed forces who are writing a new page of defending the sovereign rights and security interests of the state and justice at the cost of blood at this moment, too.

The victory in the Great Patriotic War takes the most distinguished position in the history of the Russian people and the history of human emancipation. The holiday of the sacred liberators and honourable victors, who destroyed the aggressor forces that emerged as the most reactionary and barbaric beings on the globe and brought freedom and peace to hundreds of millions of people of the world, is a political and military event of great significance not only to the present and future of Russia but also to the destiny and future of all mankind.

Our Party, government and people are convinced that the powerful Russia, the warmest fraternal country and close ally, would defend its dignity and honour as a victor nation forever and discharge its important mission and role in the struggle for international justice and peace.

May 9 is a holiday common to the peoples of the DPRK and Russia. The DPRK-Russia alliance pioneered in the accomplishment of the common cause for freedom and liberation of the people and demonstrating invincibility in the sacred war for repelling the aggression of neo-Nazism is the valuable wealth and strength of the governments, armies and peoples of the two countries.

In the future, too, the WPK, the government of the DPRK and the Korean people will be invariably loyal to the spirit and duty of the Treaty on Comprehensive Strategic Partnership between the DPRK and Russia and strongly support and encourage the cause of the Russian government and people for defending the national sovereignty, security interests and territorial integrity, the message added.
