Myongsasimni on the Kalma peninsula along the East Sea of Korea is turning into a beautiful public park and a scenic tourist resort.

It has long been counted as a scenic place in Korea for its snow-white sand beach, sweet briers, pine trees and crystal-clear water of the East Sea in good harmony.

Recently many high-end hotels, hostels, sea-bathing service facilities, sports and recreation service facilities, and commercial and catering facilities have been built there, presenting a beautiful landscape as befitting a coastal tourist town.

The eye-opening transformation in the Kalma coastal tourist area was made under the energetic guidance of the respected Comrade Kim Jong Un .

With a grand plan to build a public resort in Myongsasimni he unfolded a blueprint to facelift the Kalma peninsula and led the whole course of the project to build a tourist town.

In 2018 alone he visited the construction site three times to learn about the progress of the overall construction including materials and equipment supply and took measures for the successful promotion of the project.

Noting that Myongsasimni with a picturesque 4km-long sandy beach is the best scenic spot in terms of ecological and coastal environment, he underscored the need to develop the Kalma coastal tourist area to be representative of the famous tourist destinations in the country.

He said that high-rise office buildings for a variety of purposes, large hotels, multi-storey hostels, movie houses, video arcades should be additionally built. His instructions served as valuable guidelines for bringing about great changes in Myongsasimni.

He visited the construction site again in April 2019 when he called for guaranteeing the quality of the construction at the highest level so that it could remain flawless even in 50 or even 100 years as it was a project for the people the Party set great store by.

On July 16 last year a consultative meeting was held in a tent on the spot in his presence. At the meeting he indicated detailed orientation for making preparations for the operation of the resort including selecting service units on the basis of a scientific evaluation of the resort’s capacity and possibility of service and operation and preparing for its operation, saying that it is important to build the resort well but it comes as a matter of key importance to ensure perfect service and operation as befit its impressive appearance.

In addition, he clarified ways for developing the country's tourist industry, stressing that as the country abounds in scenic spots in coastal areas, long-term measures should be taken to rationally exploit the abundant tourist resources in coastal areas on the basis of the experience gained in the construction of the Kalma Coastal Resort.

Late in December he inspected the inaugurated service facilities in the resort. Then he said that the ideal has come true that Myongsasimni with a picturesque appearance along the beach beaten by clear blue waves of the East Sea would be turned into a 4km-long stretch of beach crowded with people full of their happy laughter and optimism.
