The Pyongyang Municipal Power Distribution Station directs major efforts to improving the stability of power supply system.
“We reduce the loss of power in transmission by rationally establishing the electric power supply system and speeding up the maintenance and repair of power equipment,” said Mun Jong Chol, senior staffer of the station.
It has enhanced the scientific level of power management by introducing a real-time monitoring system to more units. And it has ensured power supply for different lines in a planned way and improved the capacity of power transmission and transformation on the basis of the detailed survey of power consumption at all units.
It has also replaced earth wire of power transmission lines covering well over a thousand metres in different regions, thus making it possible to minimize the effect of disastrous abnormal weather.
Meanwhile, it has upgraded a large-capacity main transformer so as to raise power transmission capacity of a substation while creating a potential surplus of power, and lowered power consumption by 25% by setting up the general feeder boxes in residential quarters in the city.
In addition, it has increased the capacity of transformers and installed automatic power factor compensators on them.
