True to the decisions made at the Ninth Plenary Meeting of the Eighth Central Committee of the Workers’ Party of Korea, industrial establishments across the country made strenuous efforts last year to turn out good-quality products by using locally available raw and other materials.
This endeavour was showcased by a series of exhibitions held last year concerning the people’s living.
The first one was the Pyongyang municipal consumer goods exhibition held in February at Pyongyang Department Store No. 1. It was followed by the spring and autumn children’s goods exhibitions at Pyongyang Children’s Department Store, the spring and autumn commodity exhibitions at Pyongyang Underground Shop, the spring and autumn national shoes exhibitions, the spring costume exhibition and the costume exhibition-2024. In addition, there were National August 3 Consumer Goods Show-2024, the 15th Pyongyang Department Store No. 1 Goods Exhibition, National Processed Seafood Exhibition-2024, National Foodstuff Exhibition-2024 and the national wheat flour foods show among others.
The venues of the exhibitions drew a great number of visitors as they exhibited products that reflected the creative zeal of different establishments for making their own specialities.
The crowd-pulling events served as occasions to test the credit of the producers and share experience and technologies among them.
The visitors explained what they thought of the products and offered producers good suggestions to be considered in the development of new products. The technicians and producers from the participating establishments shared the experiences gained in their efforts to improve quality, cut costs, develop new products, ensure domestic production of raw and other materials and recycle waste.
National August 3 Consumer Goods Exhibition-2024 brought together at least 690 000 items in over 3 000 kinds from more than 1 100 units across the country.
Visitors said the quality of daily necessities made from by-products and waste was remarkably enhanced and some of them were so good that it was hard to believe that they were made by housewives’ workteams.
Last year’s exhibitions tell that when producers lend an ear to the people’s desire and demand and strive to create new things, they can improve the quality of consumer goods and keep abreast of the developing times.
