The state academic degrees and titles were awarded to intellectuals who made an active contribution to the economic development of the country, the improvement of the people's living and the education of the rising generations.
An awarding ceremony was held on the 23rd with the attendance of Vice-Premier Jon Sung Guk and intellectuals.
A decision of the State Commission for Conferment of AcademicDegrees and Titles of the DPRK was conveyed and then the title of candidate academician was awarded to Kim Ryong Gol, Head of a Department of the Central Cadres Training School of the Workers' Party of Korea, and Om Ki Su, Researcher of Kim Il Sung University.
Professorship was awarded to many intellectuals including Ri Hyok Chol, Head of a Department of Kim Il Sung University, and Kim Thae Song, Section Chief of Kim Chaek University of Technology.
Doctorate was awarded to Ju Hyon Chol, Department Head of the Central Cadres Training School of the WPK, and 83 others.
