Schoolchildren's expedition of 1,000-ri journey for national liberation leaves Pyongyang

The 1,000-ri journey for national liberation by schoolchildren from across the country started on the occasion of the 100th anniversary of the 1,000-ri journey for national liberation made by the great leader Generalissimo Kim Il Sung and the 50th anniversary of the expedition of the journey opened by the great leader Generalissimo Kim Jong Il.
Those schoolchildren selected from across the country will make over 400-kilometre-long march from the historic Mangyongdae, the birthplace of Generalissimo Kim Il Sung, to Phophyong through Kaechon, Hyangsan and Kanggye along the immortal course covered by him with a great revolutionary ambition.
A meeting was held before the bronze statues of Generalissimos Kim Il Sung and Kim Jong Il at the Mangyongdae Revolutionary School on the 22nd.
It was attended by Kim Jong Sun, Department Director of the Central Committee of the Workers' Party of Korea, Kim Sung Du, Minister of Education, officials concerned, youth league officials and marchers.
The participants laid a floral basket and bouquets before the bronze statues of the great leaders and paid homage to them.
Mun Chol, Chairman of the Central Committee of the Socialist Patriotic Youth League, made a report.
He said the 1,000-ri journey for national liberation by schoolchildren from across the country is an important occasion of fully demonstrating the firm faith and strong will of the schoolchildren to understand noble intention and revolutionary spirit of the peerlessly great men along with this historic journey and firmly carry on the march started in Mt. Paektu following the respected fatherly Marshal Kim Jong Un.
He stressed that the schoolchildren participating in the march should hasten their march bearing in mind that Marshal Kim Jong Un is always watching them, and arrive at Phophyong in safety and good health before making a report of loyalty.
Speeches were made and the flag of the expedition was awarded.
The expedition started the march with the flag fluttering in the van.
Citizens and schoolchildren sent off the marchers along streets in the capital city.
