Taking Care of Persimmon Trees with Sincerity

Officials and employees of the Hungnam Leather Shoes Factory take good care of persimmon trees on the premises.

The trees are related with a touching story.

13 years ago, the persimmon trees bore unusually abundant fruits.

Looking at the ripening persimmons, the employees grew keener to invite Chairman Kim Jong Il to their factory and show him the spectacular persimmon trees.

However, they couldn’t imagine that their earnest dream would come true.

The Chairman visited the factory in December that year and had a look at the persimmons hanging on the trees covered with white snow.

That day, he was informed that the employees there didn’t pick the ripe persimmons and took good care of them, and requested to convey his thanks to them.

Today, they still take utmost care of the persimmon trees out of ardent yearning for the Chairman.

Pure indeed is their sincerity devoted to the trees for over ten years.

Meaningful Nickname

Prof. and Dr. Jong Il Chol is a labor hero working as director of the Institute for Application of Automation System at the Automation Engineering Faculty of Kim Chaek University of Technology. He has a special nickname "Hong Kil Dong in modern era" famous in the country. Hong Kil Dong, hero of a historic novel and feature film, is an actual character.

Chairman Kim Jong Il gave Jong Il Chol the nickname "Hong Kil Dong in modern era".

There is a story about the nickname.

One day 10-odd years ago, Chairman Kim Jong Il met Jong Il Chol on his way of field guidance. The Chairman had met Jong at a unit in Pyongyang several months before. So, the Chairman was very pleased to see Jong again in the northern end of the country, kindly calling him "Hong Kil Dong in modern era".

The nickname reflects the Chairman’s great belief that he would achieve science research successes in various fields of socialist construction like Hong Kil Dong.

Even now he is working hard to contribute to economy development of the country keeping in mind the meaningful nickname given by the Chairman.

Blessed Family

People, calling hers a blessed family, envy the family of a labor hero Mun Kang Sun, workshop head of the Pyongyang Kim Jong Suk Textile Mill.

Among the souvenir photos kept at her home are a photo her husband Kim Hyok had taken with Chairman Kim Jong Il during his military service and a photo Mun had taken with the Chairman when he inspected her factory.

In July, 2009, the Chairman inspected the Pyongyang Kim Jong Suk Textile Mill. He highly appreciated the merit Mun Kang Sun performed and had a souvenir photo taken with her.

Under the warm love of the Chairman Mun Kang Sun has grown up as an awardee of the Kim Il Sung Youth Honor Prize and a labor hero.

In September 10-odd years ago the respected General Secretary Kim Jong Un visited the family of Mun Kang Sun. The General Secretary, looking at those souvenir photos, warmly said that Mun and her husband are blessed people.

Wing of Love

The Chairman watched a demonstration performance of figure skaters one December day in the last period of his great revolutionary career.

That day the Chairman watched their performance from A to Z and applauded before anybody else and praised highly for their techniques. After the performance he gave the skaters thanks.

It was the last performance they performed in the presence of the Chairman.

On the eve of the New Year’s Day of the following year the figure skaters received the gifts of the Chairman. The respected General Secretary Kim Jong Un, remembering the promise of the Chairman who said that he would send the best figure skates to them, ensured that the best figure skates were sent to the skaters in the name of Chairman Kim Jong Il.

The figure skates associated with the benevolence of the Chairman served as a wing of love that makes our players win the international games.

They won the gold medals in the 2016 figure skating tournament for Asian Cup and the Merano Cup Ice Figure Skating 2016.
