Myongsasimni, situated on the southeast coast of the Kalma peninsula in Wonsan, Kangwon Province, has long been regarded as a famous scenic spot in Korea.

A four-odd-km-long white sandy beach, red sweet briers and green pine trees, and clear waves of the East Sea of Korea blend well each other to resemble a picture.

Here sprawls the Wonsan Kalma coastal tourist area, a street under construction along the coast consisting of iconic multi-storeyed and high-rise hotels, lodgings and separate service buildings.

It is associated with the painstaking efforts made by the respected Comrade Kim Jong Un to provide the people with a wonderful resort.

It was in May 2018 when he visited the construction site for the first time.

Feasting his eyes on a panoramic view of the construction site that buildings of various shapes and styles rose along the seaside of Myongsasimni, he praised that the builders had done a lot of work in just a few months.

He looked round various places of the construction site to acquaint himself with overall construction, before discussing how to speed up the project.

When he revisited it three months later that year, he said that he had long thought of whether the Korean people could benefit from seaside culture and so he decided to build a world-class resort at Kalma peninsula’s Myongsasimni which is ideal in all aspects. And he earnestly said that it was one of the most important projects he had ever planned for the people.

In April 2019, Kim Jong Un visited the construction site again.

Looking round it which had been changed beyond recognition, he expressed great satisfaction and told officials that with the project near to completion in interior construction, they had done a great deal of work in a year. He added that last year he said the day when Myongsasimni would be crowded with people was not far away and that it was materializing in reality.

Going round various places of the construction site, he highly appreciated the fighting spirit and work manner of the builders. And he said that people would be very pleased to receive services at the resort.

Before leaving it, he said that he had looked round the Wonsan Kalma coastal tourist area with satisfaction, ardently calling upon all to perform new feats in the worthwhile struggle to build the people’s resort, a coastal park to be envied by the world, in high spirits.

He paid another visit to the resort under construction in July this year.

Thanks to his devoted efforts for the people, Myongsasimni is turning into a resort of the people, a world-class tourist attraction.
