A number of research institutes under the Academy of Agricultural Science developed a soil improvement agent good for bettering the fertility of soil and mixed herbicide for killing aquatic weeds.
The soil improvement agent "Kaeryang 1" was introduced into many farms across the country including North Phyongan, South Hamgyong and Ryanggang provinces this year, making a contribution to improving the fertility of soil on the paddy and non-paddy fields and increasing the unit-area grain yield.
The mixed herbicide "Phuljabi 5" can kill aquatic weeds such as barnyard grass which sprouts from before rice-transplantation and right after striking roots to the last days of tillering in paddy fields.
