The U.S., Australia and other Western countries expressed “concern” over the Xinjiang and Tibet issue at the meeting of the Third Committee of the 79 th Session of the UN General Assembly.

The spokesperson for the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of China, in this regard, strongly called for a stop to improperly politicizing the human rights issue.

He stated that the support of 100-plus countries to China’s stand proves the public disapproval and eventual failure of the attempts of a handful of Western countries including the U.S. and Australia who are engrossed in political fabrication under the pretext of the so-called “human rights issue”.

He referred to the systematic racial discrimination, hate crimes and the deteriorating living conditions of the Aborigines in Australia, as well as to racism, gun-related crimes and abuse of military force of the U.S. and the Western countries. He strongly called for the Western countries to properly look into and resolve the serious human rights situation in their own countries, to stop the improper exploitation of human rights issue as a political tool, and to ensure constructive participation in the international cooperation in the human rights field.
