Orphans, as had been in the past, are placed in the minds of international community as the symbol of poor kids who are destined to suffer hunger, disease, maltreatment and contempt and who live in despair and tears, falling victim to social evils and crimes.

However, under the socialist system of our country, parentless children live in palatial homes envied by everyone, laughing without any worries, playing to their hearts’ content and giving full play to their talents. This is the true picture of socialist paradise that those with capitalist values cannot possibly understand.

On October 25, 2014, respected Comrade Kim Jong Un visited the completed Pyongyang Baby Home and Pyongyang Children’s Home. With tenderly loving care of father, he looked around every corner of the buildings including bedrooms, play and dining rooms for long hours. He also gave meticulous teachings about the provision of all necessary conditions for the life and education of parentless children in the baby home and children’s home.

On this day, he said that bringing up parentless children sound and well is more important than building baby homes and children’s homes, and that it is our Party’s firm decision to raise them into pillars of the country. This was the declaration of the benevolent father to guarantee the future of the socialist power.

Under the warm affection of the Party, Pyongyang Baby Home and Children’s Home are built on the picturesque bank of Taedong River, the center of the capital city Pyongyang. They are equipped with all facilities necessary for the living of the children such as bedrooms, dining rooms, wading pools and medical treatment wards. Around the building, there are also the park for teaching children traffic regulations and modern amusement equipment. Therefore, no other word can be found except the “fairy-tale-like palace” for children to express Pyongyang Baby Home and Children’s Home.
