Over the past 10-odd years many monumental structures have been built in the DPRK true to the far-reaching plan of the respected Comrade Kim Jong Un .

The typical examples are the Mirim Riding Club, Unha Scientists Street, Munsu Water Park, Masikryong Ski Resort, Okryu Children’s Hospital, Ryugyong General Ophthalmic Hospital, Sci-Tech Complex, Mirae Scientists Street, Ryomyong Street, Yangdok Hot Spring Resort, Pothong Riverside Terraced Houses District, Songhwa Street, Hwasong Street, Rimhung Street, Jonwi Street and renovated city of Samjiyon.

These did not come into being of their own accord.

One day in October 11 years ago, Kim Jong Un visited the Mirim Riding Club nearing its inauguration.

Looking round various parts of the modern club, he said to the officials accompanying him: This year we have carried out many construction projects. We have built a large number of modern monumental edifices conducive to the cultural and emotional life of the people and the promotion of their well-being. I always think what I could do more for the good of the people who are simple, diligent and revolutionary. Construction for them has to be continued.

The structures have been built not because the country’s conditions are better than ever nor it has a surplus in its coffers; each of them has been built in the face of all sorts of difficulties thanks to his unshakeable determination and strong will to enable his people to enjoy the highest level of socialist civilization as soon as possible.

In his speech at the groundbreaking ceremony (March 2021) for a project to build 10 000 flats as the first stage for building 50 000 flats in Pyongyang, a housing construction task advanced at the Eighth Congress of the Workers’ Party of Korea, he said:

The construction of 10 000 flats this year will be carried out in circumstances that are entirely different from when we started building Ryomyong Street five years ago; moreover, the amount of work we must complete in a limited time is many times greater than it was back then. Yet our Party decided that the project must go ahead unconditionally, since it will have a direct impact on the life of the citizens of the capital, and since it is an important political undertaking in the first year of implementing the decisions of the Party Congress.

We have the proud dignity and courage that we are undertaking such a gigantic and magnificent project in the most trying times; we also have the self-confidence, experience and assets for completing it without fail.

His speech plucked the heartstrings of all the people across the country.

As he said in the speech, the country is undertaking a gigantic and magnificent project in the most trying times. This reality is fruition born of his view that there can be no satisfaction in the work for the people and his painstaking efforts to provide them with more affluent and cultured life.

Under his ennobling intention and leadership, creative undertakings and construction for the good of the people continue in the country.
